Leaving

I'm sitting in the Atlanta Airport after a month of being "home". (Home is a relative term these days.)

What an action packed time I've had in such a short time; beginning with my youngest son, Kyle's, wedding. It was a glorious October fall day. The wedding was held at the base of 30 foot bluffs and the most beautiful trees and rock formations; quite "him" I must say. But then, it was also quite "her"; his beautiful bride, Bethany. The love of the outdoors and nature are a huge part of what they share together. So, an outdoor wedding was about as natural as breathing for these two.

Then spending time in Minnesota with Ryan (the eldest son) and Holly, his wife, was so nice, too. Just to step into a week of their life together - work, play, movies, shopping, plans, hopes and dreams. The everyday stuff you miss when your 9,000 miles away. The little things...the simple pieces of life...the small and the large that can't be experienced in an email or over Skype or a phone call.

And lastly, helping my own mom with her health struggles. Doctor visits and more doctor visits and wondering where do we go from here. Life is fleeting and precious, short and sometimes not so sweet.

I'll have to say, leaving this time, is harder than ever. The Lord has given me such a beautiful family. If only I could be two. Some sort of single-hearted and single-minded being with two bodies; one living and working in Swaziland and the other watching over lives I'm supposed to be there for.

A tear in the heart created by obedience to the One who first loved me and then leaving the loves of my life.

Leaving is an ugly word but separation is just outright ruthless.

Hopefully, the first attempt will not be my last. I'll be heading back to Swaziland in just a few more days sooooo please come back and check out what I'm up to.
